Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are common gastrointestinal disorders that have a significant impact on patients’ quality of life, and are associated with comorbidieties. Our group aims to 1) understand the link between diet and these diseases, 2) improve their dietary assessment, 3) investigate dietary treatments and their impact on mechanistic and clinical outcomes, and 4) translate evidence into clinical practice. For example, our group has performed high quality randomised controlled trial demonstrating the benefits of the low FODMAP diet in IBS and IBD in remission.
